About The Hong Kong Trade Development Council

Established in 1966, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a statutory body that aims to promote, assist, and develop Hong Kong's trade.

With a global presence of 50 offices, including 13 in Mainland China, the HKTDC promotes Hong Kong as a two-way global investment and business hub.

The council creates business opportunities for companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), by organizing international exhibitions, conferences, and business missions in the mainland and international markets.

Additionally, the HKTDC provides market insights and product information through research reports and digital news channels to keep companies up-to-date.

Trade Promotion Par Excellence

As an example of the innovative trade promotion activities, the HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and Salon de TE featured 700+ exhibitors from 17 countries and regions.

Another event involved the oranization of several successful fairs under one umbrella event.

The Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, Home InStyle, the Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, Fashion InStyle, the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair, and the Hong Kong International Licensing Show attracted nearly 56,000 buyers from 130+ countries, with 60% being non-local from Mainland China, ASEAN, Taiwan, the United States, Japan, and Korea.

The Asian Licensing Conference also invited 30 global industry experts to share insights. Surveys commissioned by the HKTDC showed that exhibitors and buyers expected business and sales to return to pre-pandemic levels within 6 to 18 months.

For all events, the HKTDC welcomed 13,500+ exhibitors, 655,500 buyers, 42,000+ conference participants, and 148,500+ viewers. In just one year.

Think Business, Think Hong Kong

But it's not just in Hong Kong that the HKTDC operates.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is the city's second largest trading partner in merchandise trade and the annual HKTDC's signature promotion event, Think Business, Think Hong Kong (TBTHK), takes place in Bangkok, Thailand.

This event enables the Hong Kong and Thai business communities to explore partnership opportunities through exhibitions, seminars, and networking activities, and promotes regional trade and investment partnerships, and create opportunities through regional economic and supply chain integration.

New In 2023

In April 2023, HKSAR Government and the HKTDC organized the first-ever InnoEX Forum bringing together government officials, smart city representatives, and executives from technology companies to discuss topical technology issues.

Over 100 government officials responsible for promoting smart city development from mainland and ASEAN countries have been invited to the exhibition, with several participating in the ASEAN Smart City Development Roundtable.

InnoEX covers Smart City, Smart Economy, Smart Environment, Smart Government, Smart Living, and Smart Mobility. The Smart Hong Kong Pavilion showcased over 100 innovative solutions to drive smart city development in Hong Kong, while the Innovation and Technology Commission presented AI and robotics projects undertaken by 14 research laboratories under the HKSAR Government’s InnoHK initiative.
